Do you know who GaryVee (Gary Vaynerchuk) is? If not, you need to start catching up and watching some Youtube videos or listen to some Podcasts because you’re missing out on some pretty good life advice – he’s not a motivational speaker – he’s a life speaker and talks about his life and how you should follow in his footsteps – because HE IS REALLY, REALLY SUCCESSFUL.
The number one thing about GaryVee that sets him apart from the rest is that he’s himself. He’s down to earth and he care’s about people. He puts others first before he will take for himself. He is blunt, but he is respectful. He did not walk on anybody to get where he is – he did it by being himself and treating people with respect. That’s it.
Yes, there’s more to it than that, but the bottom line is, don’t be a d!(k to people, follow your dreams, don’t care what others think about you and make sure you’re paying attention to current events and are putting yourself where everybody else is. You need to build a brand and go where people are ACTUALLY going and not where you think they’re going.
The principals he talks about are easy but hard to put in practice for most people. I’ve been following these same principals for many years now and have been mildly successful; I would like to now get to the next level and I just need to stop allowing MYSELF to stop ME from doing what I want to do – and I’m getting better at it – stay tuned!
Anyway, the point of this post was to talk about Gary’s latest piece of advice: buying vintage basketball cards! Yep, that’s what he is going after next and he says if you want to make real money, you better do the same.
He wouldn’t be surprised if they exploded 4000% in the next decade – he says it’s going to happen! What do you think?
Here’s Gary’s quote on his thoughts on the number one piece of financial advice:
“From a business standpoint, besides posting on LinkedIn and starting a podcast, the number one piece of advice financially, I have in this room, is to buy vintage basketball cards. They’re so grossly under priced and in the next decade, people are gonna make real money.”
-Gary Vee
Here’s the video clip of him talking about it:
So what do you think? Do you have any vintage basketball cards laying around? Do you have to call your parents to see if they still have any of your stuff so you can start digging through it to find some cards?
The one thing about Gary Vee is that he knows his sh!t and understands people. He understands trends. He understands where people are spending their money – so he could be right about the basketball cards too. What’s to lose? A few bucks on cards that will sit around for about 9 years?
Seems like a small investment for a huge return, no? I think I’m going to follow his lead and start buying some vintage basketball cards and hold onto them! I’ll let you know how I do in 9-10 years!
Comment below on what you think about Gary Vee’s advice about vintage basketball cards – do you think he’s right or do you think he and a lot of other people are going to lose a lot of money? I guess time will tell!
