Motivational Segment: Gratitude
In this Motivational Segment, I talk about Gratitude and being grateful for the things you ALREADY have in your life. Most people want the next best thing and are always trying to find that next thing that will make them happy but they never sit back and analyze what they already have in their lives and be thankful for what they do have.
Sure, the next best thing might make you happy, but for how long? A day, a week, a month? Most everything that you have in your life started out as new (or new to you) and then eventually it became just another part of your life and it doesn’t have that same thrill that it once had when you first got it. Eventually, everything that you have and add to your life will end up as garbage. It will eventually end up in the landfill. All the clutter that you have in your house, all those special ornaments, that new phone, that “next best thing”… all of it… it’ll eventually end up in the landfill as garbage. So why not sit back, look at what you already have in your life and be thankful for it instead of adding to it.
No matter what it is – you should be thankful for it. It could be materialistic things, it could be relationships, it could be jobs… whatever it is, just have gratitude for those things and then ask yourself if the next best thing will really make you happy or if it’s just something you have to have right now because everybody else has it.
Once you start having gratitude for the things that you already have in your life, you will be happier and less bogged down. You’ll realize that you do have a lot of positive things going on in your life and that next best thing will only make you happy for a limited amount of time and then you’ll be seeking the next next best thing. And as an added bonus, you’ll be saving a hell of a lot of money too!
Try it. Try and be grateful for everything you DO have in your life and see how much of a positive impact it will have on you. See how much happier you become. See how much you’ve been missing because you weren’t paying attention to the “old” stuff.
Your life will change for the better once you have gratitude and are grateful for the things you already have.
