Fatherhood is Hard… At First
Fatherhood is hard… at first. You can buy all the books, magazines, movies… etc… to get ready for fatherhood, but in the end, it all comes naturally and you have to follow YOUR instincts. Sure, the books and magazines can help guide you, but they do not have every situation or scenario listed… hell, there are scenarios that I have never even dreamed of happening (like being woken up in the middle of the night with a 2 year old vomiting all over your back)
There WILL be days where you just want to go into a corner, ball up into a fetal position and cry but you have to stay strong and talk yourself out of it. There will be days where you ask yourself “Why can’t ever day be like this” and then there are days where you ponder whether or not you can sell you child… but in all seriousness, it’s going to be OK. Really, it is.
I’m not saying that the books and magazines can’t help you, because they can for certain situations and they come in handy when you need to get information in a pinch; but if you think you can read those books and you’ll be golden, unfortunately, you’re in for a rude awakening.
This is the first episode of many that I want to do on this subject- Fatherhood. I got a couple emails/comments asking for my thoughts on fatherhood and how they can be a good dad. So, I figured I’ll do a couple episodes and see what happens!
Hopefully this information helps and you’re breathing easier, but if not, stay tuned and I’ll try to help you along!
Until next time, take care!
