This is a Marathon, NOT a Sprint

Steven Avery and Kathleen Zellner Will Win

Yesterday (October 3, 2017), Circuit Court Judge Angela Sutkiewicz denied Steven Avery’s request for a new trial. While this is a setback to Steven Avery, his family, lawyers and supporters, this is not the end. This is far from over. I am seeing way too many comments and reactions online where people are blaming Kathleen Zellner and Co. for not doing everything they could. You have to remember that this is a marathon and not a sprint.

It’s easy to sit there and point fingers and say what everybody is doing wrong when you’re not the one who has to do the actual work. I get it, it’s frustrating, but you need to allow this to play out in the courts.

This isn’t Kathleen Zellner’s first marathon either; she’s done this MANY, MANY times before and she has prevailed MANY, MANY times before. We all want to wake up one day with Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey freed from jail and the real killer behind bars, and that day will come but it doesn’t happen overnight. This is not a TV show. This is not reality TV. This is real life. This is how the process actually works. All because you were able to binge watch Making A Murderer in 1 or 2 days doesn’t mean that Kathleen & Co.  can go storming into the courts and free Steven and Brendan just like that. There are processes and procedures that need to be followed.

Please don’t give up hope. Please don’t blame Kathleen on this setback. Please don’t get frustrated with Kathleen & Co. Please don’t think that this is the end of the road. Please don’t think that Kathleen is giving up on Steven. Please don’t think Steven has no more chances at freedom. Just allow this to work out. Everything will work out. This is a marathon  and not a sprint.

Kathleen Zellner is NOT giving up. She made a press release in which she states that she will be filing a motion to have this ruling vacated because she and the Wisconsin Attorney General have an agreement to allow further testing and she has more witness affidavits in which she’ll be submitting to the courts in an amended petition. She did not give up. She did not allow this ruling to set her back. She did not put her hands up and walk away because of this minor setback. She knows the processes and she knows what she is doing.

More than ever, Steven Avery, his family and Kathleen Zellner & Co. need your support. Throwing in the towel now is not an option. Getting frustrated and pointing fingers is not an option. Stay strong. Hold your head high and know that everything WILL work out. This is a marathon and not a sprint – Steven Avery and Kathleen Zellner WILL WIN.
